Simple tips for new parents:
1. Start browsing for a home daycare at least 2 months prior to the actual time you would like to start daycare.
2. Take the time to get to know each daycare provider-- you're more likely to make a good choice if you have many choices to choose from.
3. Visit the facility. Look for cleanliness and safety. During your visit, don't be afraid to ask questions. Check the other children in care--do they look happy, clean, and healthy? Are the staff friendly and accommodating? Do they seem to have a good relationship with the kids in their care? What are their qualifications for being a daycare provider? Do you agree with their philosophy? Is there ample space for the children to play and sleep in? Are there wholesome activities for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers?
4. Be ideal. If you know you're going to leave your infant at a daycare, train your baby while you're still at home so that he/she can get used to a flexible "routine." In addition, train your baby to have his/her carry time as well as down time. Home daycares usually accomodate at least 6 children. It is good to be realistic that your baby will not be held at all times. Therefore, it is good to train your baby to get used to not getting carried all the time.
5. Prepare your child's immunization ahead of time. Most daycares are very strict about their policies regarding having updated immunizations for their children in care. If you know that your child is due for a shot, take care of it prior to admitting your child to the daycare..
6. Have faith. Trust that you made the right choice. It is important that your child (even infants) feel that you trust the daycare. Your child will be more at ease if he/she feels that you are comfortable with the daycare provider.
Here is our procedure for Prospective Parents:
1) Call or e-mail us to schedule an appointment for an initial meeting. (Click here to fill out the form)
* Make sure you reserve at least 15-20 minutes for the initial meeting.
2) During the initial meeting, the parents will take a tour of the facility.
3) The provider will also explain the child care's policies, procedures, and other related materials.
4) They will also be able to ask any questions regarding the care for their child.
5) Both the provider and the parents will provide references to one another.
**If both parties agree to enroll the child in the daycare, then the parents will come for a second interview. At this point, the provider will go over the required paper works with the parents. The parents will also be asked to bring in their child's updated immunization card.
